PM Modi mentioned Shahrukh’s film: Explain India-Indonesia relations through ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’; Karan Johar expressed happiness

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Indonesia on the first stop of his three-nation tour. Addressing the Indian community in Jakarta, PM Modi used the name of the Bollywood film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to explain the relations between India and Indonesia. He said that when the two countries move together, not ‘something’ but ‘much’ happens. Film director Karan Johar has expressed happiness on this statement of PM on social media and has called it an honor for him. The relationship between the two countries explained in the name of the film. While addressing the Indian expatriates in Jakarta, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the cultural connection between India and Indonesia. He said that Indian song ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ is very popular in Indonesia. Giving an example of this, PM Modi said that when India and Indonesia move together, then ‘much’ goes beyond ‘a few’ and ‘much’ happens. After this statement of PM Modi, the people present there welcomed him with applause. Karan Johar said – It is an honor for me. After the video of PM Modi’s speech surfaced on social media, the film’s director Karan Johar gave his reaction on it. Karan Johar shared the clip of this speech on his Instagram account. He wrote that he is feeling very happy and honored to see our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi talking about ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in Jakarta. Karan further wrote that love is a language which is beyond all boundaries. He thanked the Prime Minister for keeping this song alive forever. Karan made his debut with ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. The film which the Prime Minister mentioned in his speech is a very special film in Karan Johar’s career. Karan Johar made his debut in Bollywood as a director with ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in 1998. Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee were in the lead roles in this film, while Salman Khan did a cameo role in the film. This film and its songs are still liked in India as well as in many Asian countries. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Indonesia on Monday, 6 July 2026. Upon reaching Jakarta, he was welcomed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. PM Modi was given a grand welcome at the airport, after which he participated in his scheduled programs. During this visit, many bilateral issues were discussed between India and Indonesia and emphasis was laid on strengthening the relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi is on a tour of three countries. This tour of Prime Minister Modi is the first part of the trip to three countries. After Indonesia, he will go to Melbourne city of Australia. After this, the last stop of his tour will be New Zealand. The main objective of this three-nation tour is to strengthen India’s relations with key partner countries in the Indo-Pacific region. During this visit, discussions are being held to increase cooperation in important areas like trade, defence, technology, investment and critical minerals.
