Anil Rastogi tells in an interview that due to the belief that children do not survive in his family, he was symbolically handed over to a Begum Sahiba in his childhood. They named him ‘Fakire’, while his elder brother was named ‘Ghulam Hussain’. During Moharram, Tajiya was kept in the house and he used to visit people’s houses wearing the amulet, performing the ritual of Fakiri. Begum Sahiba used to give them food and drinks.

Said to Akshay Kumar- ‘I too was young once’ Recalling his famous comedy play ‘Panchhi Jaa, Panchhi Aa’, Anil Rastogi says that it was one of the best plays of his life. Later the film ‘Garam Masala’ was made on this play. He jokingly told Akshay Kumar, “The character you are playing today, I had done on stage years ago.” When Akshay Kumar was surprised, he smiled and said, “I too was young once.”

One line changed the fate of the film While narrating the story of the audition of the film ‘Ishaqzaade’, Rastogi says that he could not understand a single dialogue. He sought help from fellow actor Ashok Sinha, who explained the line to him, even though he himself was a contender for the same role. The interesting thing was that Ashok Sinha was not selected, but Anil Rastogi got the same role. He believes that perhaps that dialogue changed the direction of his film career.

Anil Rastogi also does theatre. He is 82 years old.

Got more people’s love than Padmashree Regarding the announcement of Padmashree award, Anil Rastogi says that he was happy to receive the honor, but what made him even more happy was that he received so much love from people across the country. Kept science and theater together Anil Rastogi says that at one time he was advised to choose between science and theatre. But he clearly said that he will never give up his responsibility towards science. He would fulfill his scientific responsibilities throughout the day and when others would spend time with family, he would find time for theatre. According to him, that extra time given to theater has become his biggest identity today.

‘The courtesans of Lucknow also taught etiquette’ Talking about the culture of Lucknow, Anil Rastogi says that this city has always been known for its culture, delicacy, sophistication and food. He says that in olden times, the courtesans here were so well-mannered and cultured that children from big families were sent to them to learn manners and etiquette. According to him, that period was different and today Lucknow is also changing rapidly.
