82-year-old retired scientist and senior actor Anil Kumar Rastogi, resident of Lucknow, received the Padma Shri award on Tuesday. President Draupadi Murmu honored him.

After the video went viral, Anil Rastogi himself gave clarification on social media. Responding to a post, he wrote, “I want to tell those who are making fun that I am more than 80 years old. This was a mistake made due to my age. I have a lot of respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I believe that he is the best choice to lead the country.”

Anil Rastogi tells in an interview that due to the belief that children do not survive in his family, he was symbolically handed over to a Begum Sahiba in his childhood. They named him ‘Fakire’, while his elder brother was named ‘Ghulam Hussain’. During Moharram, Tajiya was kept in the house and he used to visit people’s houses wearing the amulet, performing the ritual of Fakiri. Begum Sahiba used to give them food and drinks.

He says that in olden times, the courtesans here were so well-mannered and cultured that children from big families were sent to them to learn manners and etiquette.
