Actress Shilpa Shetty spoke on success, fitness, family and life during the Dainik Bhaskar Asia Awards of Excellence 2026 held in Macau. She said that she does not consider herself limited to any one identity, but believes in discipline, positive thinking and learning. Shilpa told that for her, success is not just name and achievements, but family pride, love of people and balance in life. Question: After so many years of success, fame and achievements, if you are asked ‘Who is Shilpa Shetty Kundra?’, what will be your answer? Answer: First of all thanks to Dainik Bhaskar Group, who invited me here. As far as who is Shilpa Shetty is concerned, I am a human being first. I want people to remember me as a good person. My achievements, my fame are different things. Be it as an actor, entrepreneur or wellness activist, my true identity is that I am a simple and nice person. Question: When you look back at your journey, which chapter seems most special? Answer: To be honest, I don’t like to look back. I like to live in the present. I like to enjoy the ‘now’. This has been the mantra of my life – be in the present and live the moment. Right now I am here and completely with you guys. I teach this to my children also. Question: You have reinvented yourself in every phase and created new benchmarks. What is the secret of this re-invention? Answer: Life is where learning never stops. For me, every day is a new experience and an opportunity to learn. I don’t like to stay. The day you feel that you have achieved everything, growth stops. Even today I feel that I am a newcomer and I still have a lot to prove. Right now this is the beginning of love, let’s see what happens in the future. Question: What is the biggest difference between today’s Shilpa and ‘Baazigar’ Shilpa? Answer: The easy answer is age. But age is just a number. You cannot stop ageing, but how to increase age is in your hands. It all depends on lifestyle, discipline and consistency. People think that I am genetically blessed or don’t do anything, but it is not so. I live a balanced and positive life. Maybe this is the difference. Question: What is fitness for you – passion, profession or lifestyle? Answer: For me, fitness is a lifestyle. Many people want to get fit for a wedding or to burn someone down. But I want to stay fit because I want to live every moment of my life with my children. Not only physical fitness, mental fitness is also important. I do pranayam and give time to myself. Especially to women, I would like to say that taking out time for yourself is not wrong. If the women of the house are happy, the whole family will be happy. Question: Your cheat meal videos go viral. It was your birthday recently, so what is your favorite cheat meal these days? Answer: Look, be it fitness or food – cheating is not good in anything. Just like you can’t cheat in marriage, similarly you can’t cheat in fitness either. I only have a ‘binge day’ on Sunday. But I noticed that after watching my Sunday videos, people start doing the same on other days too. I believe that if you maintain balance, discipline and exercise throughout the week, you can eat whatever you like without guilt one day a week. But this does not mean that one should eat one kilo of biryani, an entire pizza and half a kilo of cake. Everything should be with balance. And most importantly – do not feel guilty while eating, because stress affects digestion. Question: Which is the myth about you and which thing do people not know? Answer: People think that I party a lot and am outgoing. But the truth is completely opposite. I am in the hospitality business, I have my own restaurants, but I don’t like noise. Actually I am a home body. On Saturday nights, I’m usually in bed after putting my kids to bed by 9, wearing pajamas. I like that life. Question: You are also a businesswoman, actor and star. What is more difficult – acting or business? Answer: Both are different worlds, they cannot be compared. Many tasks in business can be delegated, but in acting I have to perform. Can’t send anyone else there. That’s why acting is more challenging for me. But one thing always remains special – the relationship formed with the audience is genuine and special. I always get emotional seeing love in people’s eyes. Question: Who maintains the most discipline in the house – you, Raj or the children? Answer: Parenting is a partnership. No one person can do everything. Sometimes I become the good cop and Raj the bad cop, sometimes the roles change. Balance is necessary between running the house and taking care of the children. Question: Any funny or embarrassing moment from your film life which you still remember? Answer: There are many. There are some that I want to forget. But one interesting thing is related to ‘Baazigar’. Even today people talk about that scene in which I am smiling while falling. There was no VFX at that time. We shot that scene several times. Even today, if you look carefully, the string used in it is visible. But I learned one thing from him – films are not made just for money, they should have soul. The same thing was there in ‘Baazigar’, that’s why people still remember it. Question: You have achieved a lot. But what excites you like a child even today? Answer: I feel happy when I see fruits on a tree. I feel like going and breaking it myself. When I am somewhere where people don’t recognize me and I can move around normally, I feel good. I am still a child at heart and do not want to lose my childhood.
